Iran Says Indirect Talks With U.S. Continue Through Mediators

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran and the United States continue indirect talks through mediators including Pakistan and Qatar, according to a BlockBeats report dated Oct. 21, 2026.

Conditions under discussion

Araghchi said Iran had presented a seven-day plan with its conditions and that the U.S. had indicated agreement while seeking additional clauses. He declined to say whether the new conditions concerned security or economic matters. The plan called for the Strait of Hormuz to open fully on its sixth day; the report described this as a schedule, not a completed reopening.

Araghchi also called for the United States to fulfill all commitments in the Islamabad memorandum before the two sides discuss other issues. The report contained Iran’s account and did not include a U.S. government confirmation or the text of the additional conditions.
