Kalshi to Let Some Customers Borrow Against Crypto for Perpetual Futures Margin

Kalshi and crypto custodian BitGo agreed to let some customers borrow against custodied crypto and use the funds as margin for leveraged perpetual futures on Kalshi, BlockBeats reported on Oct. 21, citing Bloomberg.

Three-party collateral structure

The arrangement is for customers of Kalshi Prime, Kalshi’s U.S.-registered futures commission merchant, and uses a three-party collateral-management structure. Loans would come from affiliated lender Kalshi Katalyst, while collateral would be held at BitGo Bank & Trust.

Eligible collateral includes Bitcoin, Ether and stablecoins considered compliant with the GENIUS Act. The report said other custodians could be added later.

Customer rationale and open terms

Kalshi Prime CEO Jeff Bandman said the arrangement is intended to let customers participate without selling their crypto holdings and could attract crypto-native institutions and large digital-asset holders.
