Mochatrade Raises $5.56 Million to Offer Leveraged U.S. Stock Perpetuals to Indian Traders

Y Combinator-backed Mochatrade has raised $5.56 million cumulatively for a platform that lets Indian users trade leveraged perpetual contracts tied to U.S. stocks, BlockBeats reported, citing The Block.

Funding and product

CoinFund led Mochatrade’s seed round, with Coinbase Ventures among the participants. Y Combinator and Pioneer Fund backed a $690,000 pre-seed round. The platform accepts rupee deposits through UPI and offers leveraged long or short exposure to Nvidia, Tesla and Apple prices without requiring users to hold the shares or open a U.S. securities account.

Testing phase and plans

Mochatrade is in testing and has more than 20,000 people on its waitlist, according to the report. It expects to open publicly in the coming weeks. The company plans to use the funding for trading technology and user growth, and says it may add U.S. stock options, more assets and social trading. It currently has no token plans.
