Discord Plans Searchable Public Chats With User Opt-Out Controls

Discord plans to let search engines index some large public servers, according to an October 28 BlockBeats report. Eligible servers must have at least 1,000 members, appear in Discord’s public directory and allow joining without an invitation.

Rollout and privacy controls

Public pages are scheduled from November 16, with individual eligible messages potentially appearing in search results from mid-December. Messages sent before the feature launches will be excluded.

Users can opt out through Data & Privacy settings; administrators can manage Web Presence at server or channel level. The feature excludes teen users and defaults off in regions including the EU, UK, Canada and South Korea.
