Traditional banks in several regions have reported cyberattacks in recent weeks. BlockBeats said French online bank Fortuneo confirmed a fraudulent attack on Nov. 1, with potential losses that may exceed approximately $133 million cited in third-party monitoring.
Fraud and data exposure
The report said attackers could initiate transfers from Fortuneo and choose recipient names themselves. It described the incident as an exception to a broader pattern: most of the other cases involved customer or employee data leaks, while core transaction systems were often not directly breached and stolen funds moving into cryptocurrency channels remained a minority.
Regional cases
BlockBeats said about 16 South Korean financial institutions were affected between late September and October, with roughly 100,000 pieces of personal information exposed. It also cited a separate disclosure involving about 3,897 State Bank of India customers and attacks targeting more than 400 financial institutions in Latin America. The figures and attribution in this report have not been independently confirmed here.
