Nvidia shares rose Wednesday even as Democrats’ election win raised the prospect of tighter restrictions on data-center construction, with strong chip-industry results keeping AI hardware demand resilient, BlockBeats reported.
Demand remains firm
Customers were still stockpiling AI hardware despite uncertainty over whether suitable sites will be available to install it. The defeats of Republican governors in Texas and Ohio could bring closer scrutiny to AI infrastructure projects and extend approval timelines.
Mark Haefele, chief investment officer at UBS Global Wealth Management, wrote that greater congressional oversight would not necessarily derail the AI investment cycle. He said state and local rules have a larger effect on data-center construction schedules and site selection than broad federal restrictions.
The report said the market remained focused on evidence that chip demand is holding up after Nvidia’s recent weakness. More restrictive local policies could still create a longer-term challenge for Nvidia if they materially slow new data-center projects.
