Thune Plans Senate Minority Leader Bid as Johnson Warns of Partisan Battles

Senate Republican leader John Thune plans to run for Senate minority leader after Democrats secured both chambers in the U.S. midterm elections, Fox News reported, according to BlockBeats.

Johnson promises a firewall

House Speaker Mike Johnson said that in the past 90 years, only two incumbent presidents increased or retained their party’s seats during the first two years of a term.

Johnson warned that turning the next two years into “retaliation, legal battles, and partisan maneuvering” would harm Americans. He said House Republicans would act as a “firewall” against that outcome.
