Solana Governance Bug Was Patched Before SGP-0002 Vote, Researcher Says

Asymmetric Research said a Solana svmgov voting bug was patched before the SGP-0002 governance vote and did not alter the proposal’s outcome, according to BlockBeats.

Voting logic

The bug could prevent a delegated vote submitted before an inactive validator voted from being counted, the security firm said. It was reported to the Solana Foundation on July 10 and patched on mainnet on Aug. 3, ahead of the Aug. 24 vote.

Counterfactual estimate

Asymmetric Research estimated that an unpatched bug could have reduced SGP-0002 approval from 67.00% to 66.65%, below the 66.67% threshold. The percentages were a counterfactual chain-data estimate; the report said the actual vote result was unchanged.
