Galaxy Research’s Alex Thorn Says Asian Hours Drove Bitcoin Returns

Galaxy Research head Alex Thorn said Bitcoin’s returns in the second half of October were driven mainly by the Asian trading session, while Europe weighed on performance, BlockBeats reported on Oct. 21.

Session return snapshot

A chart Thorn shared measured cumulative returns from Oct. 1 through Oct. 20. It showed a 3.9% return during Asian trading hours, a 1.1% return during U.S. hours and a 5.5% loss during European hours. A full-period buy-and-hold approach was down 0.7% in the same chart.

The figures are attributed to Thorn’s chart as relayed by BlockBeats. The flash does not provide the chart’s time-zone definitions, price benchmark or calculation method, and its “second half of October” description does not exactly match the chart’s Oct. 1 start date.
