An early Ethereum protocol draft proposes separating beacon-chain head votes from finality votes, according to BlockBeats.
Draft remains under review
The proposal, called “Decoupled Consensus,” is described in the Ethereum EIPs pull request as a way to improve fork-choice safety and shorten finality time. BlockBeats said the draft also considers a path toward post-quantum cryptography, but those are proposed goals rather than delivered changes.
The draft is still at an early stage, with details unsettled and no merge yet. Its authors are seeking an EIP number and further review.
