Fireblocks said a report that Visa was in late-stage talks to buy the crypto custody and stablecoin infrastructure company for about $2.5 billion was inaccurate, according to a BlockBeats flash published Oct. 22.
Visa did not comment on the rumor
Fireblocks said the reported deal was “news” to the company and was not true. Visa said it does not comment on rumors or speculation. The flash attributed the earlier acquisition report to Axios and described the $2.5 billion valuation as part of prior discussions, so neither the talks nor the valuation are confirmed.
If completed, a transaction would have expanded Visa’s digital-asset custody and blockchain-payments footprint, but the reported deal remains unconfirmed.
