The Blockchain Association said it had sent congressional leaders a letter urging bipartisan digital-asset tax legislation and launched TaxClarityforAmerica.com, BlockBeats reported on Oct. 22.
Trade group outlined five tax principles
The association said about 67 million Americans hold or use digital assets and argued that current rules create uncertainty, compliance costs and incentives to move innovation overseas. Its published principles, as summarized by BlockBeats, include a meaningful small-transaction exemption, taxing mining and staking rewards when disposed of, privacy-protective reporting, rules based on economic substance and wash-sale rules that deter abuse without penalizing ordinary activity.
BlockBeats also reported that the House Ways and Means Committee had advanced a digital-asset tax bill and that Sen. Steve Daines had introduced a Senate version. Those legislative claims and the 67 million estimate were attributed to the association; the flash did not independently verify congressional records or specify a bill number.
