Bitwise Reports Bitcoin Implied Volatility Near Three-Year Lows

Bitcoin options implied volatility was near the bottom of its range over the past three years, according to a Bitwise report summarized by BlockBeats on Oct. 23. Three-month and six-month at-the-money implied volatility stood at the 0.8th and 0.2nd percentiles of their historical distributions, respectively.

ETF inflows alongside holder distribution

Bitwise cited $1.074 billion in net inflows to U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs for the week to date, which it said helped offset macroeconomic pressure. It described bitcoin as holding near $82,000, close to the cost basis of spot ETF holdings.

The report also noted rising realized profits, especially among long-term holders. A negative net-position-change measure suggested these holders might be distributing holdings, which Bitwise offered as one possible explanation for continued price consolidation.
