CoinShares Says Inflation Limits Bitcoin Upside Despite Firmer Demand

CoinShares said bitcoin had held up relatively well during this week’s swings in risk assets, attributing its resilience to renewed spot buying, improved equity sentiment and some short covering, according to an Oct. 23 BlockBeats report.

Inflation constrains policy flexibility

The firm said a weaker housing market gave the Federal Reserve room to pause, while the previous week’s higher-than-expected consumer and producer price data limited the scope for easing. Its report described widespread expectations for unchanged rates at the Oct. 28 meeting, with expectations of a December hike still elevated.

CoinShares expects bitcoin to remain strongly influenced by interest-rate expectations and overall market liquidity.
