Blink Wallet Begins $1 Monthly Fee for Inactive Custodial Accounts

Blink Wallet has begun charging a $1 monthly inactivity fee on custodial accounts that have been inactive for 12 months, BlockBeats reported, citing Bitcoin Magazine.

Fee and account scope

The report says the wallet deducts $1 per month separately from Bitcoin and dollar balances until they are depleted. Self-custody accounts are excluded. People familiar with the matter said about 100,000 accounts may qualify, with aggregate balances above $800,000 and first-round deductions of about $45,000; the figures have not been independently verified.

Blink’s explanation

Blink said the fee is intended to cover infrastructure and compliance costs and encourage users to move to self-custody. It said users who log in again will receive automatic full refunds of fees already deducted.
