Foundation Reports More Than 23,000 Phishing Attempts; Passport Keys Not Evidenced as Affected

Foundation, developer of the Passport hardware wallet, said it found more than 23,000 phishing-email delivery attempts during a security investigation, BlockBeats reported.

Investigation findings

Foundation said 19,057 emails were sent through Mailgun and 1,503 through Google Workspace, with some messages undelivered. The actual number of affected users remains under investigation. It said legacy WooCommerce database tables retained customer information after migration, including in refund records and abandoned carts, and that customer information from Shopify orders since May may also have been exposed.

Response and scope

Foundation said it revoked affected email credentials and shut down related old services. It said there was no evidence that Passport devices or their private keys were affected.
