DTCC Tokenization Service Goes Live With 34 Eligible Securities

DTCC has launched its tokenization service with an initial set of 34 securities available to tokenize, according to its official service page and an October 28 BlockBeats report.

DTC custody backs the tokens

The tokens are backed one-for-one by securities held at DTC and carry the same legal rights and economic interests as the underlying securities. A shared CUSIP identifier connects the traditional and blockchain versions, while registered DTC wallets can make peer-to-peer transfers around the clock.

DTCC says the service includes compliance controls and near real-time ownership tracking. The initial count refers to securities eligible for tokenization, rather than a measure of trading activity.
