Bithumb is assessing the extent of a personal-information leak after unauthorized access to an internal mobile office system, Yonhap reported on October 28. South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service is examining hacking incidents involving the exchange, Mirae Asset Global Investments and Daishin Securities.
Customer-data exposure still being assessed
Bithumb discovered the unauthorized access on October 27. It was still determining the scope of the exposed information, including whether member data was involved.
Separately, Daishin said personal and credit information belonging to 38,490 customers had leaked. The FSS sent an inspection team to the securities firm as it assessed incidents across the affected institutions.
