US Treasury Sanctions 10 People and One Entity Over North Korean IT Schemes

The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions on 10 individuals and one entity on October 28 over North Korean IT-worker schemes targeting US businesses.

Cryptocurrency networks targeted

Treasury said the schemes used stolen identities and fabricated personas to obtain jobs and generate revenue for North Korea’s weapons programs. It accused the supporting networks of using cryptocurrency transactions and money-laundering methods to move proceeds.

Among the designated targets was the First Financial and Technical Development Center, a North Korean-controlled entity in Russia. Treasury said six workers generated more than $750,000 for it since 2025.
