Trezor Warns of Alleged Hardware Implant in Safe 5 Sold by CryptoBilis

Trezor said it received a responsible disclosure alleging that a Safe 5 hardware wallet sold by Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis contained an extra circuit board that could capture screen contents and transmit them over a mobile network.

Early security warning

Trezor said it has not received the physical device for laboratory testing, but is treating the report as credible based on the buyer’s description and video evidence. It said no users had reported losses and advised customers who bought devices through CryptoBilis since March 2026 to move assets to a wallet with a new seed phrase. The warning is an allegation under investigation, not a confirmed hardware compromise.
