The Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index remained negative for 38 consecutive days and most recently read -0.2434%, according to CoinGlass data cited by BlockBeats.
What the index measures
CoinGlass defines the index as the Bitcoin price difference between Coinbase’s BTC-USD market and Binance’s BTC-USDT market. It is intended to help gauge buying and selling pressure in the U.S. market relative to the global market.
Reading the latest move
BlockBeats said the index had shown a positive 0.0052% reading on August 24, briefly ending a 97-day negative streak. A persistently negative reading can reflect weaker buying interest or heavier selling pressure in the U.S. market, but the indicator should not be used alone to conclude that institutional capital is leaving.
