Ethereum staking reached 43.8 million ETH, or 35.9% of supply, while average annualized staking yield fell to 2.63% in the third quarter, BlockBeats reported, citing Bitwise’s fourth-quarter staking report.
Staking grows as yield falls
The report said Q3 net staking inflows reached 1.99 million ETH, extending net inflows to six consecutive quarters. Ethereum’s average annualized yield fell from 2.81% in Q2 to 2.63% in Q3, with 96.3% attributed to ETH issuance.
Solana active staking rose to 440.5 million SOL, while gross yield fell from 6.38% to about 6%. Nearly 90% of that yield came from token issuance, according to the report.
Reported yields are not customer returns
The figures exclude service-provider fees and do not equal the yield ultimately received by customers. Lido Ecosystem Foundation executive Kean Gilbert said funds may need redemptions within one or two days even though ETH unstaking can take weeks, leaving liquidity as a constraint for institutions.
