Bitmine Chair Thomas “Tom” Lee said the crypto market’s relatively mild response to the reported $6.3 billion Binance hack was constructive, according to a BlockBeats report.
Lee points to limited spillover
Lee said the FBI had named North Korea as the perpetrator and compared the reaction with the 2025 Bybit theft. He said ETH had fallen about 4% since the Binance disclosure, versus an 8% one-day drop and 20% weekly decline after Bybit’s hack.
Bitmine attributed the difference to Binance’s capacity to cover customer losses, the absence of a DeFi chain collapse and a corporate-infrastructure breach rather than a blockchain vulnerability. Lee called the limited downside a sign that the crypto bull market could still be in progress, but that conclusion is his market view rather than an independently verified forecast.
