Lisk Shuts Down Ethereum Layer 2 and Plans to Burn 5.2 Million LSK Rewards

Lisk said its Ethereum Layer 2 network, Lisk Chain, shut down on Nov. 2, with about 5.2 million LSK left in the staking rewards contract set to be burned, BlockBeats reported on Nov. 3.

Chain closure and token supply

Lisk Portal and Lisk Bridge were closed before the remaining on-chain components. BlockBeats said the LSK balance covers tokens that were never allocated or were earned but left unclaimed. It also reported that 100 million LSK were burned in September.

Assets still on Lisk Chain are not guaranteed to be recoverable. The platform plans to launch a manual claim process in January 2027, according to the report. These timelines and token figures are attributed to Lisk’s announcement as relayed by BlockBeats.
