NEAR’s House of Stake voted to approve a proposal to reduce the network’s maximum annual inflation rate from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months, BlockBeats reported on Nov. 3.
Approval still has steps
The planned rate would be applied epoch by epoch under a published schedule. NEAR token holders can publicly vote on core parameters, according to the report.
The House of Stake Security Committee must review the vote before approval. If approved, validators would have about 90 days to adopt the change through a protocol upgrade. The rate would then be reduced in stages to 1.6% by the 24th month, with quarterly reports tracking actual inflation against the schedule.
This is a governance update to an earlier NEAR issuance proposal; the implementation remains subject to the review and upgrade steps described above.
