CZ Says Most Post-Incident Withdrawals Went to Self-Custody Wallets

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said users who withdrew funds after a security incident faced a choice between other platforms and self-custody, while he expected a bull market to bring more capital into crypto, according to an interview reported by BlockBeats.

Withdrawals and self-custody

Zhao said less than 10% of withdrawn funds had moved to other centralized exchanges in the cited flow data, implying that most may have gone to users’ own wallets. He also warned that self-custody carries risks, including lost or damaged recovery phrases and user-management mistakes.

Flow claims remain attributed

Zhao said hourly flows had turned to net inflows within 24 hours and that flows could keep fluctuating over coming weeks and months. The flash does not provide the underlying addresses, exchange data or an independent confirmation of those figures. Zhao’s expectation of greater inflows in a future bull run is a view, not a forecast of a specific price or timing.
