BlockBeats reported on Oct. 20, citing Reuters, that ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 workstation GPUs. Using an estimated $11,400 unit price, the flash put the total order value above $35 billion.
Reported supply gap
Sources cited by BlockBeats said Nvidia may be able to meet only 5% to 10% of requested volume. The report said expected 2027 global output would not exceed 3 million units while Chinese customers’ orders had topped 6 million.
Planned use and delivery timing
The flash said Chinese technology companies mainly plan to use the workstation GPU for AI inference. It also reported that Nvidia expects early samples in December and commercial deliveries in the first quarter of 2027. BlockBeats described the chip as meeting U.S. export-control requirements, attributing that assessment to its source.
