OpenAI said its AI models produced claimed results in mathematics, computer science and physics, while independent academic confirmation remains pending.
Claims span three fields
According to BlockBeats, OpenAI said the model proved an all-dimensional local smoothing conjecture and thereby addressed the Kakeya and Stein restriction conjectures. It also said the model overturned the Exponential Time Hypothesis, a claim linked to the possibility of faster algorithms.
For physics, OpenAI said the system produced rigorous mathematical existence proofs for quantum chromodynamics and Yang–Mills theory, touching one of the Millennium Prize problems. Those claims remain subject to external scrutiny.
Verification status differs
OpenAI said the mathematics and computer-science results were formalized with Lean and that proof materials were made public. It said Nobel laureates and other experts are reviewing the physics work. BlockBeats reported that independent academic confirmation remains outstanding.
