Tesla and Nvidia will reportedly invest a combined 3.7 trillion won (about $2.5 billion) to help Samsung Electro-Mechanics expand production of next-generation FC-BGA chip substrates, BlockBeats reported on Oct. 22, citing Korean media.
Reported plans stretch into 2029
The report said Tesla would commit 1.1 trillion won and Nvidia 2.6 trillion won. It described a Tesla-dedicated line in Sejong for substrates used in AI chips for autonomous vehicles and Optimus humanoid robots, alongside expanded capacity for Nvidia computing and data-center networking chips.
The reported schedule calls for construction to finish by late 2027, volume production in the second half of 2028 and Tesla supply from 2029. BlockBeats did not cite an accessible official announcement from the companies, so the investment amounts, contracts and timetable remain attributed reports.
