Update: Alibaba, Tencent and ByteDance have cumulatively ordered about 6 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards worth roughly $70 billion, but production limits mean Chinese customers may receive only about 1% of that volume over the next four months, BlockBeats reported.
Delivery estimate worsens
The orders were first reported in October, when Nvidia estimated it could meet 5% to 10% of demand. The latest estimate calls for only a few thousand cards to arrive by the end of 2026, followed by tens of thousands in February.
The RTX PRO 5500 is a workstation card with 84GB of VRAM and lower performance than data-center GPUs such as Nvidia’s H200 and B300. Chinese companies have turned to it amid U.S. export controls on more advanced chips.
Nvidia is prioritizing TSMC capacity for its more profitable Rubin chips, and global RTX PRO 5500 output next year may be below 3 million units. Some Chinese customers estimate they could receive about 700,000 cards by the end of 2027, or roughly 12% of their orders.
