Meta Shares Fall as $825 Billion Spending Commitments Raise Credit Concerns

Meta’s shares fell about 7% on Thursday after a regulatory filing showed roughly $825 billion in future spending commitments, including leases, cloud contracts and data-center agreements. Much of the planned outlay is tied to AI computing and infrastructure, BlockBeats reported.

Credit indicators moved higher

Meta’s five-year credit default swap price reached a record high, while its bonds weakened relative to U.S. Treasuries. The stock’s decline erased more than $100 billion in market value, according to the report.

Concern spread across technology issuers

Credit default swap prices for Oracle, Microsoft and Broadcom also rose in the update. Meta had reported revenue and fourth-quarter guidance above expectations before the filing brought the scale of its future commitments into focus.
