Western Digital CFO Kris Sennesael said hyperscale cloud customers were continuing to expand capital spending and had discussed storage supply needs for 2030 and 2031 with the company, according to an October 24 BlockBeats report.
Demand and earnings outlook
Sennesael said even a slowdown in AI growth could help Western Digital catch up with its current supply shortfall.
The company forecast adjusted earnings of up to $6 per share for its fiscal second quarter, compared with an analyst average of $4.80, and raised its quarterly dividend by 17%, the report said.
