AWS core capacity largely booked through 2027, Jassy says

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said AWS core computing capacity is sold out for 2026 and largely sold out for 2027, with most 2028 capacity already booked, BlockBeats reported on October 24.

Capacity reserved for immediate demand

Speaking in an Andreessen Horowitz podcast released Friday, Jassy said AWS would retain some capacity for on-demand computing, EC2 cloud servers and Bedrock AI inference services to meet immediate customer needs, according to the report.

Jassy also said Amazon usually purchases servers and networking equipment a few months in advance, allowing it to adjust procurement to demand and reduce the risk of excess capacity.
