Intel Shares Lost 45% in October as PC Demand and Foundry Confidence Weakened

Intel shares fell 45% cumulatively in October, their worst monthly performance on record, according to BlockBeats. The stock dropped 29% on the last trading day of the month and another 8% on the first trading day of November.

Weak demand hits the outlook

Intel expects current-quarter revenue to come in $1 billion to $2 billion below analyst expectations, citing weak PC demand and high costs for memory and other components. The PC business accounts for roughly half of Intel’s revenue, making the slowdown a direct pressure on the company’s results.

Foundry capacity and customer confidence

The report said insufficient capacity has forced Intel to shift some Oregon production from its advanced 18A process to Intel 3 to increase server CPU supply. That change adds to investor concerns about execution and the ability to attract outside foundry customers.

D.A. Davidson downgraded Intel from Buy to Neutral. Raymond James strategist Matt Orton said the developments did not amount to a reckoning for the broader AI industry, according to the report.
